It’s been estimated that some 80 percent of people abandon their New Year’s resolutions within six weeks. With that sobering statistic in mind, the College’s Staff Advisory Committee to the President and the Student Affairs Staff Development Committee recently held a panel discussion aimed at helping CofC employees establish and maintain healthy habits in 2019.

The event – “Health, Wellness and Self-Care in the New Year” – took place on Jan. 17, 2019, in the Stern Center Ballroom. You can watch a full recording of the discussion above or at https://youtu.be/xNQpbfzUOGg

A panel of CofC staff experts shared advice and answered questions from the audience. The panelists and topics were as follows:

  • Rachael McNamara, Health Educator, The Counseling Center – Stress-reduction and mindfulness techniques
  • Elizabeth Klixbull, Staff Nurse Practitioner, Student Health Services – Importance of preventative screenings
  • Charlotte Caperton-Kilburn, Sports Dietician, Athletics – Healthy eating habits
  • Bucky Buchanan, Assistant Director of Fitness, Campus Recreation Services – Exercise and physical fitness

Mike Robertson, senior director of media relations, served as the panel moderator.
