We all have to eat. And, lucky for College of Charleston employees, there’s something for everyone right here on campus.

That’s because the College’s largest dining facility, the Liberty Street Fresh Food Company is open to everyone (prices vary for non-CofC guests) and features all-you-care-to-eat access for breakfast, lunch or dinner at 10 different stations, including a complete salad bar, a smoothie bar, a Chobani bar, a brick pizza oven, a sandwich station, a Mongolian station, a Lowcountry homestyle station, a vegetarian station and a bakery. And faculty and staff can get it all for just $10 (lunch) or $10.50 (dinner) with their CofC ID!

If that’s not enough to convince you, here are seven more reasons that College of Charleston employees should visit the Fresh Food Company today!

1. Private Dining for Faculty and Staff

Employees have access to their own separate dining area at the back, southeast corner of the Fresh Food Company. Established through a collaboration among Business and Auxiliary Services, Dining Services and the Staff Advisory Committee to the President, the faculty/staff dining space features a fireplace and plenty of natural light.

2. Plan to Save

The $155 Faculty and Staff Meal Plan includes 25 meals from Fresh Food Company, City Bistro or Marty’s Place, and can even be used for select sandwich/salad combos at Market 159, breaking down to just $6.20 a meal! Payment plans of four $38.75 installments over a two-month period are available, or employees can pay in full at Cougar Card Services. Meal plans can start at any time, and meal swipes will not expire during your employment.

3. Plan for You

The Faculty and Staff Meal Plan doesn’t just keep your wallet healthy: Providing free access to the College’s campus dietician, it keeps you healthy, too! Dining Services’ registered dietician and nutritionist is available to anyone with a meal plan and provides services like nutritional counseling, personalized weekly meal plans, healthy recipes and food allergen solutions.

4. Your Salad (and Soup) Days for Only $6

Don’t want a full-on lunch? Employees can get one trip to the salad bar, a bowl of soup and any drink for only $6! With two soup options and a salad bar that stretches on and on, why not make every day one of your salad days?

5. Champion Breakfast for Only $5

It’s the most important meal of the day, and – with the new faculty/staff breakfast plan – CofC employees can get it all (and a Starbucks cappuccino) at the Fresh Food Company for just $5! Whether you’re hitting up the cereal bar or craving something hot from the daily breakfast menu, you can get it Monday–Friday from 7 to 11 a.m. Just show your CofC ID and pay your $5 (the cost is $8 without it) at the door (Dining Dollars, cash and credit are accepted).

6. Starbucks PerksStarbucks at Liberty

For a real eye-opener, try one of the Fresh Food Company’s two new touchscreen “We Proudly Serve Starbucks” beverage machines and espresso machine. This elevated coffee program lets you watch your latte, cappuccino, hot chocolate or brewed coffee dispense right before your eyes with the touch of a button – and also includes freshly brewed Teavana offerings. Don’t forget to grab one to go before you leave!

7. Food To Go

When you’re using a meal plan at the Fresh Food Company or City Bistro, you may get a reusable to-go box from the cashier and fill it up to take with you – whether you’re headed back to your office or to the Cistern Yard for a little picnic. Better yet: You don’t have to clean it when you’re done! Just bring it back to the Fresh Food Company (where it will be cleaned and sanitized) and exchange it for another one. Or – if you’re in the mood to dine in the faculty and staff dining area – just exchange it for a key tag, which you can turn in for another box the next time you’re on the go!
