College of Charleston students had yet another record-breaking year with Charleston Miracle’s annual CourgarThon event, raising more than $142,000 for the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.

More than 491 students participated in the dance marathon in TD Arena on March 9, 2019. The fundraising event yielded an increase of more than $27,000 over funds raised from the event in 2018.

Gretchen Schultz, vice president of external operations for Charleston Miracle, says this fundraiser has been so successful because of the organization’s strong connection with the hospital and the people who depend on it.

“We often have our miracle patients from the hospital attend our events and share their stories about the impact the money we raise is having,” says Schultz. “This is extremely beneficial to showing CofC students how meaningful this movement is, and how much of a difference the money we fundraise can make.”

Since 2007, Charleston Miracle has raised over $882,000 for the MUSC children’s hospital.
