The College of Charleston campus should expect sidewalk and street closures along a portion of St. Philip Street on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, due to construction work at Berry Residence Hall.

Construction crews will install chiller replacements to Berry Residence Hall, located at 80 St. Philip St. This project will require the use of a crane and will entail street and sidewalk closures near the area.

Due to the construction project, the following buildings and departments will be closed on Tuesday, May 7:

  • Cougar Card Services
  • Parking Services
  • Chick-fil-A
  • City Bistro
  • Berry Residence Hall

St. Philip Street will be blocked in its entirety from the intersection of Calhoun Street to the exit of the St. Philip Street Parking Garage (PG) from 3:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Vehicular traffic will be redirected away from the street closure. For those faculty, staff and students who park in PG, the garage will not be accessible via Calhoun Street. Follow detour signs toward Vanderhorst and St. Philip streets to enter the garage. The parking lot by the Bell South Building (WA) will be closed. WA pass holders will need to contact Parking Services at 843.953.7834 for alternative locations to park on that day.

Temporary signage will be installed to direct pedestrians along routes around the work area.
