Board of Trustees Chair David Hay ’81 sent the following message to the College of Charleston community on Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, regarding the inauguration of President Andrew T. Hsu:
Dear Campus Community,
In higher education, it is common practice and tradition to hold an inauguration to mark the beginning of a new presidency at a university. These celebrations are a way to bring a campus community together to celebrate a new president and a university’s history as well as showcase the importance of the institution to its community.
In that vein, the College of Charleston will hold an inauguration for President Andrew T. Hsu on October 25, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. in Cistern Yard. A formal invitation to the campus community will be distributed later this month. All are invited to attend the inauguration in person or to watch the live stream online.
For more information, please visit inauguration.cofc.edu. Please check the website frequently as it will be updated with additional Inauguration Week events.
October 25th promises to be a glorious day for our institution. I look forward to celebrating with our entire community and President Hsu.
Sincerely,
David
