The College of Charleston has received top marks in the latest edition of the U.S. News Best Colleges 2020 rankings.

According to the report, the College was named the No. 5 top public college in the south, the No. 3 ranked college for veterans among southern institutions, the No. 8 most innovative school in the region, the No. 8 best college for undergraduate teaching in the south and a best value regional college.

U.S. News & World Report has published its Best Colleges rankings since 1983. According to its website, the rankings provide a starting point for families searching for the best academic value for their money and enables them to compare the relative quality of institutions based on such widely accepted indicators of excellence as freshman retention, graduation rates and the strength of the faculty.

Last month, the College of Charleston was named a top school for undergraduate education by the Princeton Review.
