The College of Charleston family continues to grow with the addition of these new staff members from all across campus. Hailing from California, New Jersey, Kentucky, Maryland, Oregon, Georgia and South Carolina, these individuals (listed alphabetically below) have come from all over the country to be part of the CofC community!

 

Hannah Craig

Background: I am from Rock Hill, S.C. I graduated from CofC in 2015, double majoring in communication and African American studies. For the past few years, I have worked in financial aid at the Art Institute of Charleston and Charleston School of Law.

Interests: Besides spending time with family and friends, I enjoy reading, working out, watching YouTube videos and exploring the city.

Looking Ahead: Honestly, I am most excited to just be back at the College! CofC holds a special place in my heart. I look forward to using my knowledge and experiences to better serve the students and families.

Background: I was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, and attended the University of Kentucky for undergrad (Go Big Blue!). I received my master in global sustainability from the University of South Florida with a focus on water resources. From there, I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, and held the positions of sustainability coordinator for the City of Charlotte and recycling project manager at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I am very excited to now be joining the College of Charleston!

Interests: So many things! I am an amateur triathlete and always looking for friends to train with. I love to bike casually and am very excited to be living right on the West Ashley Greenway. I also have a kayak and love getting out on the water. Basically if it is outside, I like to do it!

Background: I am from Baltimore, Maryland, and I worked in the finance office at St. Mary’s Seminary & University.

Interests: I enjoy dance, tennis, football, movies, music, fine arts, dogs and hiking.

Lindsey Grandshaw

Background: I am born and raised in South Jersey. I went to Temple University in Philadelphia and graduated from the Fox School of Business. I migrated to Charleston last October to be with my now husband.

Interests: I love reading the Bible, going to sporting events and hanging out with my husband Ryan, our bulldog Milkshake and our cat Lulu.

Looking Ahead: I am looking forward to the downtown scenery, the people, the growth opportunities, the benefits! The list goes on.

 

 

 

 

Kyle McCoil

Background: I earned my master’s degree in higher education with a concentration in student access and success from the University of Michigan, and my B.A. in public health from the University of South Carolina. While at the University of Michigan, I worked with the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Association to strengthen and improve their risk management practices, reduce high-risk behaviors and improve the health and safety of the community as a whole. I was also tasked with creating and chaired the hazing response team, facilitating educational workshops and advising their chapter of Order of Omega. Outside of fraternity and sorority life, I also have a background working with orientation and first-year experience programs.

Interests: Family and friends are very important to me. I’m originally from Summerville, S.C., and I’m happy to be back so close to home. In my free time, I like to read, be outdoors and spend time with my dog!

Looking Ahead: I’m excited to be advising the Interfraternity Council and to coordinate the Greek Emerging Leaders Program, Greek Leadership Institute and the Borelli Greek Awards for the SAIL Program.

Background: From Portland, Oregon, but last lived in Los Angeles working for a small internet service provider.

Interests: My spare time is pretty much all taken up with my two cats. Pictures can and will be provided with even the slightest expression of interest.

Looking Ahead: I love working in a college environment, and CofC seems like it has an especially nice environment!

Background: I am from Atlanta, Ga., and moved to Charleston, S.C., in May 2018. Prior to coming to the College of Charleston, I worked in the K-12 and post-secondary sectors of education, corporate America and nonprofit capacities.

Interests: My faith, family and friends are the most important to me. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, traveling, experiencing new things and enjoying life. I am also a huge sports fan. One of my favorite things to do is walk the beach and reflect.

Looking Ahead: I am looking forward to gaining knowledge, building relationships with the CofC family as well as the surrounding areas and witnessing my students strive in order to reach their goals.

 

Remy Starker

Background: I am originally from Madison, N.J. I have called Charleston home since I began attending CofC in 2010. While a student at CofC, I was a member of the dance team, the Cougarettes, serving as captain my junior and senior years. After I graduated from the College, I worked for a local youth development program that partners with CofC, named Kids on Point. I’m joining the compliance staff as assistant director after serving as academic coordinator for Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) since August 2017.

Interests: I am active in the community and have close ties to organizations such as Kids on Point and the Charleston chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. When not at work, I enjoy spending time at the beach and trying all of the newest restaurants in Charleston.

Looking Ahead: I love working with student-athletes and helping them realize their potential as people and not just athletes. It is great to be part of the CofC community because I am so thankful for everything the College has given me.

 

Jimmy Walker

Background: I’m a California native – moved here two weeks ago to be with family in the area. My wife of 42 years is still in California, but will be here shortly as well. I’ve worked in the semiconductor and commercial drug manufacturing industries for over 35 years and was in the Navy before that – always in utility plant operations.

Interests: My family is most important to me – grandchildren, extended family – and just being present. I like to read, I play classical and Flamenco guitar.

Looking Ahead: I am excited about being part of the organization and contributing to its success.
