In partnership with the College of Charleston, the Chuck and Sara Calhoun Davis Foundation will host the ninth annual Jeremy’s Scholarship Golf Tournament at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C. A reception with a live auction, a silent auction and a raffle will follow the tournament at 5 p.m.

Jeremys Scholarship LogoAll proceeds will be invested in the Jeremy Warren Van Memorial Scholarship Fund to ensure that aspiring teachers have the financial resources necessary to focus on becoming a leader in the classroom and in their community. Teacher candidates teach full days in local public schools during their clinical internship semester. Due to long hours and heavy academic responsibilities, they are unable to maintain outside employment to support themselves. During the internship semester, the Jeremy Warren Vann Memorial Scholarship pays tuition for exceptional students who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need and promise as an exceptional teacher.

The Jeremy Warren Vann Memorial Scholarship was endowed in 1999 in memory of Jeremy Vann ’97, a College of Charleston alumnus who aspired to teach disadvantaged Native American students. Tragically, Jeremy’s life was cut short by a car accident before he could fulfill his dream of becoming an educator. In memory of their son, Chuck and Sara Davis created the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization Chuck and Sara Calhoun Davis Foundation. Through the consistent support of donors and friends of the Chuck and Sara Calhoun Davis Foundation, four scholarships have been endowed in memory of Jeremy, with 47 students at the College of Charleston receiving a cumulative amount of more than $200,000 from this memorial scholarship fund since its inception.

With this year’s goal of growing the endowment to support five teachers each year, the Chuck and Sara Calhoun Davis Foundation’s annual fundraiser includes many big-ticket items at its live auction, including a Kiawah Island Ocean Course outing, a mountain package, diamond and opal jewelry, an exclusive private dinner party with Chef Brett McKee and a Club Car Onward. Bidders will also be able to fund a Jeremy Warren Vann Memorial Scholarship by bidding high and often to fund tuition for a deserving future educator during their clinical internship semester.

Reception tickets may be purchased here; additional tickets to the auction and reception may be purchased for spouses or guests at a discounted rate. Raffle tickets are $20 for five tickets and available for purchase from a volunteer or at the registration desk. The winner will receive half of the proceeds from the ticket sales; the remaining half will go to the scholarship fund.
