Behind every engaging class, every well kept building and every student success story at the College of Charleston, there is an army of silent soldiers who work together to make it all happen. Without question, CofC’s more than 1,000 staff members are an integral part of the institution’s fabric. And that is certainly something to celebrate!
That’s why the Staff Advisory Committee to the President held the Fall Staff Drop-in on Friday, Oct. 14, 2019, to give staff the chance to celebrate the semester’s successes with food, fellowship and a raffle. Hosted at the President’s House Courtyard, around 130 staff dressed in CofC gear for Cougar Spirit Day laughed and chatted as raffle gifts such as a gift certificate to Party at the Point or Oysters on the Point and a CofC branded coffee mug and pop socket were given away.
CofC President Andrew T. Hsu, who made a quick trip inside his house to make sure he was sporting a CofC neck tie for the occasion, praised the staff for all they do.
“I want to thank all the staff for your hard work,” Hsu said. “We all know without our staff, we can’t run the university.”
And whether staff or faculty, Hsu said the goal of our efforts should be the same – student success.
“We are all here for higher education,” he said.
