Trisha Folds-Bennett

Trisha Folds-Bennett, Honors College dean at the College of Charleston, has been named provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise.

Folds-Bennett joined the College of Charleston as a faculty member of the psychology department in 1998. She was appointed as associate dean of the Honors College in 2006, before rising to the post of dean in 2013. She has also served as speaker of the faculty and as director for the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (URCA) Program.

Through her leadership, Folds-Bennett has undertaken several initiatives for the Honors College including strategic planning and program assessment; student recruitment, development and retention; faculty recruitment and development; curricular and co-curricular program management; and fundraising and donor relations.

“I have known and worked with Trisha in a number of different roles for a very long time and will sincerely miss her professionally and personally,” said Interim Provost Frances C. Welch in an email to the campus community. “I appreciate her effective and carefully constructed leadership and impressive work ethic.”

Folds-Bennett will officially begin leading the UVa-Wise Department of Academic Affairs in the summer of 2020. She will continue in her role as Honors College dean through June 2020.
