College of Charleston faculty and staff are invited to a town hall meeting to discuss the results of the Workplace & Campus Culture Survey that was conducted last fall. The discussion will be held in the Stern Center Ballroom from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020.

Richard Boyer, a senior consultant from ModernThink, will lead the discussion. ModernThink, an independent management consulting firm focusing on workplace quality in higher education, hosted the survey, which focused on topics such as work quality, communication, management, workplace culture and benefits.

Nearly 1,000 employees responded to the survey, providing a quality dataset and indicating both a strong interest in the process and a commitment to the CofC community. The data received from the survey has been provided to the College summarizing the organizational competencies and relationships that most directly impact and influence the College culture. Information from the survey will be helpful in the effort to make the College the best workplace possible, and it will help to inform the College’s strategic plan, which is now in development.

“As with any assessment tool, we expect the results will confirm some of our many strengths and also reveal areas in which we need to improve,” said interim Provost Frances Welch in an email to the campus community on Jan. 8, 2020. “This town hall meeting is a first step in that direction – to enhance transparency and communication across the institution. We will use the survey results and your feedback as catalysts for addressing the areas of improvement highlighted in the survey results, to support the positive future we aspire to achieve for the College and for each other.”
