Resident Assistants are the backbone of the on-campus living experience for College of Charleston’s 3,000-plus residents, and they play an integral role in students’ success and happiness.
This job is an exciting, life-changing opportunity for students as they gain incomparable leadership skills and learn to excel in conflict resolution, crisis situations and much more. The Department of Residence Life works hard to ensure they hire, retain and continuously support the most responsible student leaders on campus.
“We look for a variety of student leaders who want to make a positive impact in our residential community,” says Assistant Director of Recruitment and Training Joy Heinzman. “These students are motivated individuals who want to help their peers in making the college and their experience here one to remember!”
Signing Day took place on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, welcoming the newly selected RAs to sign their work agreements. For the upcoming 2020-21 academic year, the Department of Residence Life sent employment offers to 96 students; 46 of those are returning staff members and 50 are new hires. Similar to the signing day tradition in the athletics world, they completed the event with a signing day table, snacks, RA buttons and a polo try-on station where new hires can try on and select their RA uniform.
