There may be a lot of things College of Charleston employees are missing out on while social distancing, but saving money isn’t one of them. Check out some of the many offers that CofC employees can take advantage while staying home!
1. Food and Grocery Delivery

- Perks At Work, which is available through the College’s employee assistance program Deer Oaks EAP, offers deals on several food and grocery delivery services, including Sun Basket, FreshDirect, Restaurant.com and Postmates – as well as meal kits like Home Chef. 2. Working From Home
It’s easy to stay focused and productive in your home office using these great deals:
- The College of Charleston Division of Information Technology has made Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro available to students, faculty and staff free of charge for their personal computers through May 31, 2020. The Adobe Acrobat Pro version allows you to create, edit, sign and convert most PDF files to Microsoft Word documents. The Adobe Creative Suite includes visual and design applications like Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Premiere and AfterEffects. To request access to Adobe Acrobat Pro or Adobe Creative Suite, complete a ticket. - To boost your productivity when working from home, Perks at Work offers great deals on products like Sennheiser. To access the Perks At Work website, first log into Deer Oaks website, then click on Savings Center under the Centers tab. From there, follow the directions to register for the Perks At Work access.
3. Learning From Home
Whether you’re teaching your students online or teaching your children at home, there are plenty of ways to make the most of the experience for your students and yourself:
- The College’s Center for Continuing and Professional Education is offering the CofC community 10 percent off of the entire catalog of Mindedge offerings, including a Certificate in Agile Project Management, Certificate in Cybersecurity, Certificate in Sustainable Management and the Six Sigma and Lean Green and Yellow Belt prep courses. In addition, the center is offering the following Mindedge classes absolutely free: Introduction to Critical Thinking, Personal Creativity and Creativity in Teams and Organizations.
- LinkedIn Learning, an online educational platform, is now available to all College of Charleston faculty and staff for free. LinkedIn Learning offers expert-led course videos on hundreds of topics. To browse the extensive list of courses available, log in through Office 365 (portal.office.com) with your CofC credentials, navigate to the More Apps section and choose LinkedIn Learning. - Perks At Work, which is available through the College’s employee assistance program Deer Oaks EAP, offers deals on top educational software and products like Rosetta Stone and Babbel. It is also offering free access to its Community Online Academy, which is a virtual full day of learning/development for kids and adults. Every Thursday, CofC employees can access 20+ classes to improve work-from-home skills and give kids enriching classes from home. Attendees can dial into as many or as few sessions as they like – full day participation is not required. 4. Staying Healthy and Strong
Just because you can’t go to the gym doesn’t mean you can’t get fit – there are plenty of ways to get moving at home:
- The College’s Campus Recreation Services is leading two virtual group fitness classes every day, Monday through Friday, as well as weekly workouts to do from home.
- The College of Charleston Counseling Center is leading a weekly Meditation and Mindfulness drop-in for faculty and staff. Held via Zoom on Thursdays at 1 p.m., these sessions focus on mindfulness and mediation that boosts the immune system and builds new neural pathways that help us slow down and reduce anxiety. - Perks At Work, which is available through the College’s employee assistance program Deer Oaks EAP, is offering free access to its Community Online Academy, which is a virtual full day of health/wellness for kids and adults. Every Thursday, CofC employees can access 20+ classes to help re-establish fitness routines and stay healthy from home. Attendees can dial into as many or as few sessions as they like – full day participation is not required.
