The College of Charleston will hold two virtual town hall meetings on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, for students/families and faculty/staff regarding the institution’s delay of in-person classes due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The College announced on July 28 that, due to the COVID-19 numbers in South Carolina and the Lowcountry, the College is modifying its Back on the Bricks plan and is delaying in-person instruction until Monday, September 14. Classes will begin as scheduled on Tuesday, Aug. 25, in an online environment.

With that change, there are many questions. These town halls will be a forum for students/families and faculty/staff to learn more about this shift and ask questions of College leaders.

As done previously, the virtual town halls will be conducted using Microsoft Teams Live Event video conferencing technology. Attendees can watch the event online and submit questions using the program’s Q&A feature.

A town hall for faculty and staff will take place from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. A town hall for parents and students will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

Each town hall can be accessed via the following links:

For those unable to watch these town halls live, links will be made available afterward for streaming at any time. Recordings of town hall meetings can be viewed at cofc.edu/back-on-the-bricks/virtual-town-halls/index.php. A CofC login is required to view faculty and staff town halls. The College will be hosting more of these virtual town halls in the days and weeks to come, so if you can’t tune in this week, there will be additional opportunities to participate in the future.
