The College of Charleston School of Business has racked up a series of new rankings by various national education publications for its MBA, Bachelor of Professional Studies, international business and overall business degree programs.
“I am extremely proud of our programs and the recognition they have earned,” says Alan T. Shao, dean of the School of Business. “We will continue to elevate the profile of all of our business programs to optimally serve our students and community.”
International business program ranks No. 6
Study.com rated the College of Charleston sixth among the nation’s 50 best international business degree programs.
According to Rene Mueller, director of the Global Business Resource Center and professor of International Marketing, there are several reasons why the program is noteworthy.
“Our international business students have more foreign language and area studies options than most larger schools,” says Mueller. “Our faculty and staff participate in many international trade organizations and are continually networking to identify internships and jobs for our students. Additionally, we have a geographic advantage because we are in a port city where international trade and business is the norm rather than the exception.”
Online degree completion program makes top 10
Learn.org listed the organizational management and development concentration within the Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) program 10th in the nation among schools offering an online bachelor’s degree in the discipline.
“The organizational management and development concentration is one of our most popular pathways and prepares graduates to direct individuals, teams and organizations,” says Michelle Futrell, assistant dean for professional studies and continuing education.
The BPS program is unique because it is designed to serve adult learners who require flexibility to complete coursework from anywhere in the world.
BPS program featured in top 25 online bachelor’s in project management
Another BPS concentration, project management, came in at number 11 on Bachelor’s Degree Center’s list of the 25 best online bachelor’s degrees in project management for 2021. The publication ranked programs according to their tuition cost, student satisfaction and potential salary.
In the program, students learn how to manage complex projects from start to finish following the PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) and leave prepared to work in a range of industries in the public, private and non-profit sectors.
One of the nation’s best business degrees
The School of Business, which holds dual accreditation in business and accounting by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International, comes in at number 13 on Study.com‘s list of the top 50 colleges and universities that offer a bachelor’s program in business.
Study.com evaluated data such as tuition expenses, networks with industry leaders, study abroad offerings and student services. School of Business mainstays like the Global Business Resource Center and Student Success Center ensure students have access to opportunities and services like international study, academic advising and career development.
Additionally, colleges that offered experiential learning opportunities that encouraged “boundless entrepreneurial spirit” were important for rankings. School of Business programs like ImpactX, housed within the Center for Entrepreneurship, and course offerings in social entrepreneurship and eco-preneurship help make this a reality for all CofC students.
