The following message regarding COVID-19 protocols and requirements for returning to campus for the spring 2022 semester was shared with College of Charleston students on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021:
Dear Students:
This fall, weย areย very pleasedย to haveย 77% of our students submitting theirย COVID-19ย vaccination documentation.ย Students whoย have alreadyย submitted theirย vaccineย documentationย to Vax on the Bricksย do not need to do anything further unless they want to upload updatedย or new COVIDย vaccineย documentationย or documentationย indicatingย theyย haveย received aย boosterย shotย at:ย go.cofc.edu/vax-upload.
So that we canย strive for aย safe and healthyย spring semester,ย our campus leadership team willย requireย allย returning and incoming College of Charleston students to submitย one of the followingย byย midnight, January 5, 2022.
- Proof of a complete series ofย COVID-19 vaccines*ย (2 Moderna, 2ย Pfizer or 1 Johnson & Johnson vaccine) with the last dose being given on or before Decemberย 21, 2021. Upload documentationย at:ย go.cofc.edu/vax-upload.
*Students who have already uploaded theirย completeย vaccine documentation areย notย required to upload their informationย again.

- COVID-19ย tests MUST beย performedย between Monday, Decemberย 27,ย andย Wednesday, January 5. College of Charleston will accept PCR, Antigen (rapid or standard) tests and self-administered tests (ex: Binax Now).ย Note: Self-administered tests must be labeledย withย the studentโs name andย theย dateย theย test was takenย written in pen on the test card.ย All test results must showย theย dateย of theย test,ย theย result andย theย studentโsย name.
- Pleaseย plan aheadย as some labs may experience delaysย in providing test resultsย due to the holidays.
- Students who test positive will need toย stay away from campus until the end of their isolation period.

Please note that limitedย exemptionsย to these requirementsย will be approved for students who are not taking classes during theย springย 2022ย semester or who are enrolled in virtual-only programs.ย Exemptionย requestsย should be submittedย using the following form:ย https://forms.gle/3zkq77mYRnj1hYCp6
Not complying with the aboveย requirementsย will have consequences for residential and non-residential students,ย which areย describedย below.
Residential Students:
- Non-compliance by scheduled move-in date: Not permitted to move-in/return to residence halls and historic houses and Cougar Cardย deactivation
- Non-compliance by January 17:ย Holdย placed onย account
- Non-compliance by January 31:ย $100 fine
- Non-compliance by February 14:ย Additional $100 fine
- Course registration will begin in March andย theย hold will prevent registration
Non-Residential Students:
- Non-compliance by January 17:ย Holdย placed onย account
- Non-compliance by January 31:ย $100 fine and Cougar Cardย deactivation
- Non-compliance by February 14:ย Additional $100 fine
- Course registration will begin in March and hold will prevent registration
For the remainder of theย currentย semester andย forย theย beginning ofย the spring semester,ย the Collegeย willย continue toย require face coverings in our classrooms andย insideย allย campusย facilities.ย The only exceptionsย areย some exercise facilities, namely Johnson Gym, Silcox Gym and the George Street Fitness Center.
We will continue toย monitor the health and wellbeing of our campus communityย closelyย and follow the recommendations of public health agencies and best practices at other institutions of higher education.
