For many on campus, MyPortal has become the go-to place when doing business with the College of Charleston. The mobile and web-based app provides students, faculty and staff with easy access to university applications and services.

As the College continues its transition to MyPortal, here are five tips that will make the user experience even better and more intuitive so you can easily navigate the MyPortal platform.

1. Arranging/Organizing Tiles

Rearrange the tiles in MyPortal to fit your own preference. Perhaps you would like to group similar tiles together or move your most used tiles to the top. MyPortal offers a few different customization options; users can add, move and hide tiles. Please note that users canโ€™t rename tiles, change tile sizes, change tile colors or create personalized tile folders.

To move tiles, click on the Arrange button in the top left-hand corner and then click on the “Grid view” icon below. The tiles that can be moved will have an X in the upper right-hand corner. Just click on the tile you want to move and drag it to the desired location. When finished, click “Done” in the upper right-hand corner.

2. Searching on MyPortal

Use the search tool to find what youโ€™re looking for quickly. Conducting a search on MyPortal is easy. Use the magnifying glass in the upper left-hand corner or go to the down caret symbol on the far right and select “Search” in the pull-down menu.

3. Unearthing Hidden Tiles or Hiding Tiles

You can decide what to show on your MyPortal home screen by hiding or unhiding tiles.

To find or hide tiles, click on the Arrange button in the top left-hand corner and then click on the “List view” icon. In the list view, tiles with a padlock to the right cannot be removed. Tiles with a checked or blank box can be added or removed. Check the box to add the tile to your MyPortal home screen. Uncheck it to remove it.

4. Uncovering Additional Apps

Not finding an app you want? Go to the MyApps tile for the Collegeโ€™s Microsoft cloud-based apps or the AppsAnywhere tile, which provides access to commonly used software like Adobe Acrobat and MATLAB.

5. Getting Help Through the MyPortal Support Tile

Have questions or need help? The MyPortal Support tile offers access to frequently asked questions and a way to create a ticket with IT for assistance.
