The College of Charleston Office of University Communications will host a panel discussion with AALANA (African American, Latinx, Asian and Native American) alumni to share their achievements and challenges and reflect on how being a person of color shaped their time at CofC and prepared them for a successful career after college.
Moderated by Rénard Harris, chief diversity officer at the College of Charleston, the event will be held in the Stern Center Ballroom at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Panelists include:
- Dr. Natalie Gamble Johnson DHA ’99, Associate Dean for Diversity Affairs for the College of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina
- Miwako “Mimi” Striplin ’14, Owner of The Tiny Tassel, Charleston, S.C.
- Joshua K. Hall ’14, Director of Programs for Saga Education, Charleston, S.C.
The event is part of an Office of Institutional Diversity (OID) initiative to foster a more inclusive environment for students of color. Collaborating with schools and other departments on campus, OID is creating activities that are open to everyone, but are designed to specifically support AALANA students.
This new series of AALANA-focused events is just one of the College’s efforts to ensure that underrepresented minority students feel welcomed and have a sense of belonging at CofC.
The event will also be recorded.
