The College of Charleston is transitioning to an electronic access system for its buildings, where students, faculty and staff may enter facilities with a tap of their Cougar Card.

The pilot program will launch on March 28, 2022, and will include 32 Coming St. and Craig Hall. Individual rooms in the buildings will continue to use a physical key.

“We are very excited to initiate the pilot of our electronic access program,” says Kathy Crosby, program manager for the project. “Moving to a keycard system will streamline our operations and increase security.”

Once the pilot program validates the proof of concept, electronic access will be phased in to encompass more campus buildings. The initial phase will include most residence halls, Addlestone Library, the Cato Center and the Honors College.
