The Bully Pulpit Series at the College of Charleston will host a town hall meeting with South Carolina Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mia McLeod on Monday, April 18, 2022. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 5 p.m. in the Stern Center Ballroom located at 71 George Street.
Doors open for this event at 4:30 p.m. Please note that CofC has a clear bag policy for this event, and only clear bags will be allowed in the building.
McLeod is a member of the South Carolina Senate from District 22 (Kershaw and Richland counties). McLeod is a former college educator and is currently the chief executive officer of McLeod Butler Communications LLC. She previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2011 to 2016. Prior to her election to the South Carolina State Legislature, McLeod worked in various state agencies including the Office of the South Carolina Attorney General. McLeod received her B.A. from the University of South Carolina in 1990 and her J.D. from UofSC in 1995.
The Bully Pulpit Series at the College of Charleston encourages and facilitates political participation throughout the campus community by providing a platform for dialogue with state and national leaders. Through town hall events with political candidates, the Bully Pulpit Series reinforces the message that citizen interest and involvement are essential components of a healthy democracy.
The program is co-managed by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Communication and the Department of Political Science at the College of Charleston.
