custodial appreciation day 2022

On Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, CofC President Andrew T. Hsu shared the following message with the campus community regarding National Custodial Workers Recognition Day, which took place on Oct. 2, 2022, and the critical role of the College’s custodial staff, who will celebrate with a Custodial Cupcake Social in the TD Arena McAlister Suite:

Dear Campus Community,

The physical spaces on our campus are essential to effective instruction and learning. The members of our custodial services team play a critical role in ensuring that we deliver on our academic promise to our students.

On Sunday, October 2, the country recognized and celebrated this year’s National Custodial Worker’s Recognition Day. In wake of the disruptions caused by Hurricane Ian, we are celebrating today with our custodial teams.

On behalf of the entire campus community, I want to express our collective appreciation for all of their efforts and acknowledge their hard work maintaining, repairing and beautifying our campus facilities. If you have the opportunity, I encourage everyone on campus to express their thanks to our custodial teams.

Our setting at the College of Charleston is a true differentiator in attracting the top minds from around the world, and our campus is a point of pride for everyone here at the College. Their front-line work greatly supports our academic mission and is key to our institution achieving our shared vision to become a university on the national stage.

Again, I want to thank our custodial teams for being valued members of our community and for adding so much value to our campus experience.

Sincerely,

Andrew

Andrew T. Hsu, Ph.D.
