Many of you โ€“ or your colleagues โ€“ have been hard at work creating new, engaging and recruitment-focused content for the new College of Charleston website. Whether youโ€™ve been intimately involved in the project or are cheering on the website content editors from the sidelines, here’s what you need to know about the new website.

New Domain

The new website is being built on the charleston.edu domain. The cofc.edu URL will remain live until all content has been created in the new templates, tested and migrated to charleston.edu. Proper redirects will be in place to prevent broken links for people still seeing cofc.edu on promotional materials.

Recruitment Is Key

The primary objective of the new website is to attract highly qualified students, faculty and staff to the College of Charleston. The new site structure, and brand messages and design, will provide users (external audiences) with a creative, modern, sophisticated, intuitive and accessible customer-focused user experience for our target audiences:

  • Prospective students (undergraduate, transfer, graduate)
  • Prospective faculty and staff

Content that is appropriate for internal audiences (current students, faculty and staff) will be moved to The Hub, which is the university’s intranet site.

Timeline

Our plan is to go live with the following key sections of the new site in mid-December:

  • undergraduate admissions
  • cost and aid (financial aid/scholarships)
  • academic programs (majors, minors, graduate programs, special programs)

In addition, any other sites that have been completed, migrated and beta tested by November will go live in December. All remaining sites will migrate to the new site as they are completed. The goal is to have the entire cofc.edu site moved to charleston.edu by summer 2024.
