Democratic presidential candidate Cenk Uygur will speak at the College of Charleston on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, as part of the College’s Bully Pulpit Series. The event, which is open to the public, will be held at 4 p.m. in Alumni Center, on the first floor in the School of Education Building located at 86 Wentworth Street.
Uygur is the host and founder of The Young Turks, the largest and longest running daily online news show in the world, serving young, progressive viewers. He is also CEO of TYT, an award-winning network generating over 500 million views a month. He co-founded the Justice Democrats and is the bestselling author of Justice is Coming. He was recognized by Mediaite on their list of Most Influential in News Media 2021. Uygur graduated from the Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania and from Columbia Law School.
The Bully Pulpit Series at the College of Charleston encourages and facilitates political participation throughout the campus community by providing a platform for dialogue with the state’s and nation’s leaders. Through town hall events with political candidates, the Bully Pulpit Series reinforces the message that citizen interest and involvement are essential components of a healthy democracy.
The program is co-managed by the College of Charleston’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Communication and Department of Political Science.
