Background: I am from Charleston! I love Charleston so much that I stayed here for college. I graduated from the College of Charleston in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in communication. For the past 20 years, I worked in a clinical psychologist’s private practice as the office manager and special education advocate. I also worked as a freelance proofreader for a publishing company. And, before I had my three children, I worked as a licensed insurance agent for a local State Farm insurance agency.
Interests: I love writing, reading and researching my family’s genealogy. I also love walking. I walk five miles a day. I enjoy anything my family is doing. I have been married for 31 years to Jay Baldwin, Citadel Class of 1985. We have three children: J.J. (Citadel Class of 2016), who is a high school teacher and coach; Cullen (CofC Class of 2017 and a Tony Meyer Scholar), who is a PGA golf professional; and Anna Katherine (CofC Class of 2020 and a Harry Freeman Scholar), who is a first grade teacher. We also have three chihuahuas.
Looking Forward: I am thrilled to be a part of the CofC Libraries team! I have returned to the place that prepared me for the world, so I am grateful to be part of the College as an employee. I am an alumnus, the daughter and daughter-in-law of alumni, and the mother of alumni, so the College feels like home to me. I feel like I’ve come full circle, and there is not a better place to be!

Background: I am from Laurens County, S.C. I came to College of Charleston as an undergraduate in 2016 and, in December 2020, I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in marketing.
Interests: My hobbies include cooking, reading and traveling. I love to read, hang out with my friends and bake desserts in my spare time.
Looking Forward: I look forward to experiencing even more professional growth and the opportunity to meet new people on campus.

Background: I am born and raised in Maryland (D.C. metro area). I graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor’s of science in communication studies. Before Charleston, I worked as an English teacher to non-native speakers and as an assistant innkeeper at a luxury boutique bed and breakfast in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Interests: I am a CODA (Child Of Deaf Adults) who grew up in an all deaf household. American Sign Language is my native language and deaf culture is extremely important to me. In my free time, I love to explore the outdoors, see live bands and improve my yoga skills.

Background: Before coming to the College of Charleston, I was an assistant professor at the University of Louisville. Before that, I received my Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. My spouse just started an assistant professor of radiation oncologist at the Medical University of South Carolina. My spouse’s position and the prospect of joining CofC brought us to Charleston. We have two children. Nathan just turned 6 years old and started kindergarten. Theo is 9 months old.
Interests: My spare time is mostly dedicated to my children, Nathan and Theo. Nathan and I love fossil hunting at Morris Island and other locations. Theo just learned how to crawl, and his world is getting bigger every day.
Looking Forward: I’ve been most looking forward to working with students at a liberal arts college. I love teaching and I’m excited about leading smaller discussion-based classes instead of just the large lectures that I had grown accustomed to.

Background: I am originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan (Go Blue!), but I have lived in Charleston for most of my life. Prior to coming to the College of Charleston, I was an athletic academic advisor for The Citadel Bulldogs, and I also taught accounting courses for The Citadel.
Interests: I like watching college football and premier league soccer, going to the beach and just trying to keep up with my wife and two spirited young kids.

Background: I grew up in Alberta, Canada, and spent most of my summers in Charleston visiting my grandparents. I graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in geology and went on to work in the laboratory sciences. I have experience in pharmaceutical and microbiology research. The last several years I have been a stay-at-home mom, and I am very excited to get back into the sciences.
Interests: I love yoga, gardening and reading.
Looking Forward: I’m looking forward to being back in the sciences, where I can update and use my skills in research.

Background: I grew up in Moncks Corner, S.C., and I lived on campus as a student. I’ve lived all over the country since graduating and am excited to finally be home. I have mainly worked in education, technology and library fields over the years.
Interests: I spend most of my free time taking care of my two tween/teenage children and helping them with their schoolwork and activities. I also enjoy live theater, festivals and mysterious activities like murder mystery events and escape rooms.
Looking Forward: I am so happy to be back home, and I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone and everything the College is doing today. My experience as a student meant so much to me, and I am thrilled to be providing a part in creating a similar experience for today’s students.

Background: I am from a small town in West Virginia called Philippi. It is about 45 minutes from Morgantown, where West Virginia University is located. My fiancee and I decided to move to Charleston once I finished my master’s degree and she finished her bachelor’s, a little over a year ago. I had been working at the Daniel Island Club prior to accepting the job at the College of Charleston. Now I am looking forward to being a part of the College of Charleston family.
Interests: Some of my hobbies include spending time with my family, lifting weights, playing sports and playing with my two cats.

Background: I just moved from east Tennessee, where I’ve spent most of my life. I earned my bachelor’s degree in environmental and soil science and my master’s degree in information sciences at the University of Tennessee. I worked for seven years at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where I had a role in building and maintaining a plant root database named FRED (Fine-Root Ecology Database).
Interests: Playing and listening to music, studying mythology and constructed languages, playing with my pets (a Lhasa Apso mix and two kitties), and walking around in nature.

Background: I’m from Cumberland, Maryland, and went to college at Coastal Carolina University, where I got my bachelor’s degree in recreation and sport management.
Interests: In my spare time, I like to wakeboard, snowboard and watch sports.
Looking Forward: I am looking forward to excelling in my career path and making connections that will last a lifetime.

Background: I’m from Great Falls, Virginia, and attended the College of Charleston from 2015 to 2020. Prior to becoming a research assistant with the USDA Forest Service through the College of Charleston, I worked in plant science at a hydroponics farm. Before that, I studied biology and environmental and sustainability studies at the College.
Interests: I’m very passionate about the environment and wildlife and, in my spare time, I enjoy canoeing and going to the beach. I also enjoy live music and stand-up comedy.
Looking Forward: I’m looking forward to making connections with open-minded individuals who are also passionate about the environment as well as learning more about geology.
