Finding a healthy balance in life can be easier said than done. That’s why Campus Recreation Services (CRS) is partnering with Alicia Caudill, executive vice president of student affairs and registered yoga teacher, to help faculty and staff find balance through yoga.
“We just need more yoga in this world right now,” says Caudill, who will be leading weekly virtual yoga sessions and monthly in-person yoga sessions this semester. “I hope our colleagues will take some time to join in community with other faculty and staff and do something we can find enjoyable. I hope it will give some balance and relief to the demands of our lives.”
Yoga sessions for faculty and staff include:
15-Minute Virtual Yoga
Caudill leads the 15-minute virtual yoga sessions via Zoom every Wednesday at noon. Designed specifically for faculty and staff, the sessions can be done right at your desk.
“It really is 15 minutes and can be done in your desk chair,” says Caudill, adding that 10–12 people regularly attended during the fall 2021 semester. “We focus on catching our breath and doing some easy stretching focused mostly on shoulders, neck and back.”
To receive reminders and updates about these weekly sessions, email Caudill – and join a session via the Zoom link above!
Third Thursday Yoga
The in-person yoga sessions will be held in the George Street Fitness Center group classroom from 12:15 to 12:50 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month. The dates include:
- Jan. 20, 2022
- Feb. 17, 2022
- March 17, 2022
- April 21, 2022
“These will be gentle flow and stretch classes, perfect for a midday refresh and reflection,” says Caudill, noting that space is limited to 10 participants due to COVID-19 restrictions. “I’m very excited and grateful to share these classes with our colleagues!”
To register for one of the in-person classes, please email Bucky Buchanan, assistant director of fitness for CRS.
