The College of Charleston community received the following message on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, regarding the availability of N95 masks for students, faculty and staff:
Dear Campus Community,
The College has received a large shipment of N95 masks to help contain the spread of Covid-19 on campus, especially the Omicron variant.
Students, facultyย and staff can pick upย one maskย per personย from the following campus locations duringย regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday โย Friday)ย beginning atย 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25:ย
- Residence Hall front desksย
- Student Health Services, 181 Calhoun Streetย
- Stern Student Center, 71 George Street
- Human Resources, Suite 36, Lightsey Centerย basement, 160 Calhoun Street
- Public Safety, 89 St. Philip Street
- Campus Services HQ, 162 Calhoun Street, first floor of Berry Hallย
Face masks are required for all members of the campus community, regardless of vaccination status, while around others indoors in all campus facilities, including classrooms and labs.ย For additional guidance regarding face masks and limited exceptions to the campus mask mandate, please review the campus announcement from Jan. 13, 2022.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, well-fitting, federally approved respirators, such as N95 masks, offer the highest level of protection.ย Face masks should fit snugly against the face with a nose wire to prevent leaking from the top. Mesh masks, neck gaiters or masks that allow light to come through are not adequate.
