Job title: Audio Visual Event Support Technicianย ย

How long have you worked at the College?ย Three years as staff, five years with my time as a student employee.ย ย

What are your job responsibilities?ย My job consists of coordination, setup and operation of audio-visual systems for events held on campus, as well as assisting with the production of the Collegeโ€™s new podcast, Speaking of … College of Charleston. ย

What do you like most about your job? My favorite part of my job is assisting so many different departments and divisions around campus and getting to engage with events that highlight the magnificent work of the College.ย ย

What question do you get asked most in your job and whatโ€™s your typical answer?ย One of the most frequently asked questions I get in my job is โ€œWhat is the most advanced event youโ€™ve supported?โ€ My response is โ€œThe most advanced events we support are four-camera hybrid board meetings, which require up to 20 microphones, four remote-controlled cameras, and a live video feed in-room for meeting participants.โ€ ย

Whatโ€™s your favorite location on campus and why? Oddly enough my favorite location on campus is the wall at the northeast corner of Coming and Calhoun streets. When I was a student one of my friends and I would meet there almost daily to catch up and relax between classes. The wall always reminds me of how much I enjoyed my time as a student and why I decided to stay and work at the College.

What are your hobbies?ย Watching movies, TV and playing video games. ย

What personal and/or professional accomplishment are you most proud of?ย Professionally, one my biggest accomplishments was getting to work on eight presidential candidate events during the lead-up to the 2020 South Carolina Democratic Primary, including Pete Buttigieg, Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden. ย

Name a creative work (book, movie, performance, etc.) you enjoyed recently โ€“ why?ย Better Call Saul. I really enjoy the showโ€™s ability to express charactersโ€™ feelings and growth subtly through the cinematography and actorsโ€™ performances.ย ย

What was your favorite TV show growing up?ย My favorite TV show growing up was Avatar: The Last Airbender. I loved the characters and it taught me to enjoy shows with a continuing narrative.ย ย

Whatโ€™s next on your bucket list?ย I would like to fly out to San Francisco and spend a week or so taking in the sights and camping in the national parks.ย ย

What is something your campus colleagues would be surprised to know about you?ย I have minors in creative writing and film studies. ย

What was your first job?ย This actually! I started as a student employee in my sophomore year.ย ย

Whatโ€™s your favorite Lowcountry restaurant?ย Iโ€™m a big fan of Pooganโ€™s Porch on Queen Street and Stellaโ€™s at the corner of St. Philip and Warren streets. ย

Describe your perfect day:ย Wake up early, eat a nice breakfast, go for a walk, get lunch somewhere new, go see a movie and then come home to watch some TV or play a video game before going to bed. ย
