The College of Charleston Board of Trustees voted on June 13, 2022, to hold constant for the third year in a row the total cost of attendance for South Carolina students. The board also voted to increase tuition for out-of-state students by 4% for the 2022–2023 academic year.
Although the College’s operating costs continue to rise, the S.C. Legislature again this year allotted tuition mitigation funds in order to freeze tuition for South Carolina residents.
Beginning fall semester 2022, full-time undergraduate students from South Carolina will pay $6,259 per semester. Out-of-state, full-time undergraduate students will pay $17,669 per semester. Students from South Carolina in the Graduate School (The University of Charleston, S.C.) will pay $6,885 per semester, and out-of-state graduate students will pay $19,436 per semester.
“The College of Charleston is doing everything it can to do to keep costs affordable for families, while at the same time delivering a world-class education,” says Board of Trustees Chair David Hay ’81. “I am pleased that we were able to hold tuition steady for South Carolina students and to only modestly increase costs for our non-resident students.”
College of Charleston President Andrew T. Hsu adds, “Affordability and accessibility have been the hallmarks of a College of Charleston education for many decades, and the approval of the 2022–2023 budget will allow for strategic investments in several key initiatives, as outlined in our 10-year strategic plan, around the areas of student success, academic distinction and employee success.”
