The holidays are a time to gather with family, reflect on what you are grateful for and give back to others. To support refugees settling in the Charleston area, several offices and departments at the College of Charleston have organized a supply drive on campus, which runs through Dec. 15, 2022.
Members of the campus community may donate new or gently used items to help global refugees resettle and create their homes in Charleston. Most needed items include:
- Kitchen/bedroom supplies such as dishes, silverware, mixing bowls, pots/pans, linens, blankets and towels
- Toiletries including toilet paper, shampoo, soap and toothbrushes
- Cleaning supplies like laundry detergent, dish soap, sponges and waste baskets
Donations of clothing will not be accepted. Supplies may be taken to the following drop-off sites:
- Center for Civic Engagement, Lightsey 203
- 1st Floor Lightsey Lobby
- Women and Gender Studies, 7 College Way
- Addlestone Library Lobby
- 1st Floor Stern Lobby
The supply drive is sponsored by the Center for Civic Engagement and the Cougar Refugee Alliance in partnership with Lutheran Services of the Carolinas.
