Drama club students in the third, fourth and fifth grades from North Charleston Elementary School made a visit in November 2022 to the Sottile Theatre during the production ofย Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley. Janine McCabe, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance, and Miles Boinest, operations coordinator for the Department of Theater and Dance, provided a guided tour of the theater and facility spaces where students learned about lighting, stage design, hair and makeup, costumes and more. Impact X hosted its Fall 2022 Demo Day in the Wells Fargo Auditorium in the Beatty Center on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022. Student teams pitched their projects to a panel of judges, including U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace. Students Kate Clark, EB Hornak and Isabelle Quiggle took the top prize with their product Wonder, a sensor-based crib mattress that collects health data on infants, including heart rate, body temperature and movement.
