The Charleston Music Fest, which presents classical and contemporary chamber music performed by world-class artists, kicks off its 2014-15 season on Nov. 13, 2014, with a concert by violinist Alexandre Brussilovsky.
The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. in the Simons Center for the Arts Recital Hall, 54 St. Philip St.
General admission is $25 and $10 for all students. Tickets are available at the door, by calling 843.953.6575, or online at music.cofc.edu/concerts.
Born in the Ukraine, Brussilovsky has played in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls and won top prizes at several international competitions.
He will be joined by cellist Natalia Khoma and pianist Volodymyr Vynnytsky. Both renowned international musicians, Khoma and Vynnytsky are music faculty at the College of Charleston.
For this performance, the trio has prepared music by French composers Cesar Franck and Ernest Chausson. Khoma, artistic director of the series, says “the program includes two of the finest, capricious, and tragic pieces of the Romantic music cannon. I felt that Alexandre is one of the very few violinists in the world that can bring this music to life.”
