If you’re thinking about how to refine your career path after graduation or you’re interested in pursuing a future in academia or research, then mark your calendar for the College of Charleston’s Graduate Education Week, March 20-24, 2023.
Hosted by the Graduate School, University of Charleston, South Carolina, Graduate Education Week offers a variety of activities for current undergraduate students to learn more about the Graduate School’s 21 master’s degree programs and nine graduate certificates.
Four-plus-one graduate programs in computer and information sciences, mathematical sciences and accountancy can help quickly prepare students completing undergraduate degrees in those fields and propel them into careers. And several master’s degree programs, including the Master of Science in Data Science and Analytics and the Master of Arts in Communication, are open to students who hold a variety of different undergraduate degrees.
“There are a lot of opportunities for our students to continue their professional growth and development right here at the College after they complete their undergraduate degrees,” says Kameelah Martin, dean of the Graduate School. “For students who have an affinity for Charleston, who are settled here and already have a support system in place, it makes sense to consider our graduate programs.
“We have a lot of professional relationships,” adds Martin. “So, depending on what their career path is, there are internships and experiential learning opportunities that they can continue right here in Charleston.”
Graduate Education Week will kick-off with a tabling event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, in Cougar Mall (rain location will be the Stern Center Ballroom), where undergraduate students can learn more about the different graduate programs. Then on Friday, March 24, a formal Graduate School Information Session will be held from 3-4 p.m. in the School of Education Alumni Center at 86 Wentworth St. A grad/undergrad mixer will immediately follow from 4-6 p.m. Students interested in attending the events on March 24 should RSVP through this form.
