It marked the sixth all-time men’s singlehanded national title in program history next to 1988, 1990, 1991, 2009 and 2012. Peschiera joins a short list of CofC greats to have won the event – the last being two-time Olympian Juan Maegli (Guatemala City, Guatemala), who won the national title twice in 2009 and 2012.

Peschiera finished his national-title run scoring 15 points across the six-race series to edge Luke Muller of Stanford, who was the runner-up with 22 points. He is one of three current CofC sailors, who are currently campaigning for an Olympic bid for The Games in Rio de Janiero, Brazil in 2016.
