For more than ten years, College of Charleston music professor Robert Taylor and his wife, Mary, have directed the very popular performance of A Celtic Christmas. Featuring the Charleston-based Taylor Festival Choir and the Na Fidleiri fiddling ensemble, A Celtic Christmas combines classic holiday songs with traditional Celtic music, opera and more.
A Celtic Christmas will begin at 7:30 p.m. on December 15, 2014, at the Circular Congregational Church at 150 Meeting Street in Charleston.
PURCHASE: Tickets range in price from $10 to $30 and can be purchased at the door or in advance here.
This year the performance will contain a segment celebrating the hundredth anniversary of the 1914 Christmas Eve Armistice, in which British and German troops paused trench warfare during World War I to sing carols and celebrate Christmas in peace. Also, this year’s A Celtic Christmas will guest star piper Cillian Vallely and guitarist/singer-songwriter John Doyle.
