Don’t be surprised if graduating senior Stirling Rentz has an extra pep in her step when she walks across the Cistern stage at commencement on Friday to receive her degree in arts management.
As the reigning Miss North Charleston 2015, Rentz is accustomed to walking across stages. Next month, she’ll take the stage in Columbia, S.C., at the Miss South Carolina 2015 competition. Should she win there, Rentz would advance to the Miss America Pageant in September 2015.
The past few months have been busy for Rentz. In addition to completing the requirements for her degree, she has balanced her position as an assistant in the Career Center with her duties as an instructor at a local dance studio. Throughout her college career she has also held several jobs in retail, performed with the College’s Cougarette dance team, completed internships and taught self-defense courses to girls and women in support of the Children’s Miracle Network.
Rentz, who won her title at the Miss North Charleston Scholarship Pageant in December 2014, is excited to have a stage on which to advance her platform, “Promoting Youth Leadership,” which is the result of the five years she spent as a volunteer counselor at the Rotary International Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp.
