The following schedule applies only to College of Charleston orientation session two, which takes place Thursday, June 25, 2015.
The Rev. Clementa Pinckney’s funeral is scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. in TD Arena on the College of Charleston campus. President Obama will deliver the eulogy. First lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are also expected to travel to Charleston for the services.
Final decisions about the College’s Friday schedule, street closures, security measures have not yet been announced, but this one-day Orientation experience is the best choice to allow participants to make plans and so that we do not contribute to the congestion on campus and downtown.
The orientation schedule for June 25, 2015, will begin at 7:15 a.m. with check in on Cougar Mall and it will continue with normal programming through the afternoon. The major change will take place in the evening. At 5 p.m. students will begin advising and course registration. This will continue until 9 p.m. in the Education Center and other campus locations. While students are meeting with advisors and creating their fall course schedules, families are invited to talk with faculty, staff, alumni and students in the Stern Center or enjoy a dinner out with their new parent and family friends.
Students will receive a personal schedule at check-in. The generic schedules for students and families have been updated to reflect this change to session two:
