The College of Charleston men’s and women’s basketball teams will host “Maroon Madness” on Friday, Oct. 16th , at 7:30 p.m. at Carolina First Arena.  The event, which features scrimmages by both teams, is free and open to the public.

“Maroon Madness has been great for school spirit,” said men’s coach Bobby Cremins, who returns three starters from last season’s squad that totaled 27 wins and reached the Southern Conference finals.  “Our players really enjoy it and have fun interacting with the students.”

Maroon Madness begins with team introductions and a chance to hear from the coaches.  Skits by both teams and a skills competition will follow. After the skills competition, the men’s and women’s team will play intrasquad scrimmages.  Fans can get autographs from players following the games.

Single-game tickets will be on sale in the College of Charleston’s ticket office during Maroon Madness. Additionally, two fans will have a chance to win a pair of season tickets.

“Our team is very excited about participating in Maroon Madness,” said women’s coach Nancy
Wilson, who led her team to a 23-8 record and its first-ever appearance in the Southern Conference tournament title game.  “Fans are a vital part of our success so to have them involved from the first day of practice is a great idea. It gets everyone headed in the right direction for the upcoming season.”

Both teams host USC Aiken in exhibition games on Nov. 7th at Carolina First Arena.  The men begin at 5 p.m., and the women start at 7 p.m.  Both teams begin regular season play on Nov. 13th.  The women’s team play at North Carolina, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., while the men are at Coastal Carolina at 7 p.m.
