The College of Charleston is one of the top colleges and universities in the South, according to the 2017 edition of Best Colleges by US News & World Report.
The College ranked No. 10 among southern institutions, according to the outlet. It also ranks No. 4 in the category of best public colleges in the region. In addition, the College was named an “A+ School for B Students” among Southern regional universities.
“To continue to be ranked on the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges list is a well-deserved national recognition for one of the oldest public universities in the country,” said College of Charleston President Glenn F. McConnell ’69. “These rankings affirm the College’s commitment to holistically educating and caring for its students and is directly correlated to our faculty and staff’s dedication in fostering our student-focused culture. Further, it is confirmation to our campus community and prospective students and their families that there is immense value in a College of Charleston education around the country.”
U.S. News and World Report has published its Best Colleges rankings since 1983. According to its website, the rankings provide an excellent starting point for families searching for the best academic value for their money and enables them to compare the relative quality of institutions based on such widely accepted indicators of excellence as freshman retention and graduation rates and the strength of the faculty.
Earlier this month, The Princeton Review named the College of Charleston as one of the country’s best institutions for undergraduate education.
