Students at the College of Charleston will be presenting research this week at the William V. Moore Student Research Conference.
The conference, held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at the Stern Student Center, features presentations by students studying political science, international studies, arts management and more. This year’s keynote speaker will be Kayla Gilchrist, a community organizer for several organizations in South Carolina.
The scope of research topics featured at this conference is quite broad. Past presentations have ranged from Southern and South Carolina politics, to civil rights, political extremism, educational opportunity and economic development, human geographies and world politics.
The conference is orchestrated in honor of the late William V. Moore, who taught political science at the College for nearly three decades. The conference reflects his passionate commitment to undergraduate education and improving political discourse and educational and economic opportunities for all South Carolinians.
