The College of Charleston School of Business has officially unveiled the school’s Wall of Honor. The inaugural inductees include Tommy & Victoria Baker, Guy & Betty Beatty, and George & Dorie Spaulding.
The Wall of Honor represents the highest standard of philanthropy in the School of Business. These honorees – the first to be inducted on the Wall of Honor – were nominated and approved by the Board of Governors for their transformational and lasting impact on the School of Business. The criteria for nomination is based on philanthropy, service and values consistent with the mission of the School.
“I am so proud to have the Bakers, the Beattys and the Spauldings be part of the legacy of our School,” says Alan T. Shao, dean of the School of Business. “Their contributions are inspiring. They have had lasting impact on our alumni and will continue to do so with our students far into the future.”
The design of the Wall – from the bottom to the top – conveys the progression of the business student who arrives on campus, experiences face-to-face learning, prepares for career aspirations and passes the threshold into the global business world. This progression is captured in specific design elements including the campus Cougar and gate icons, Wachovia auditorium, the signature Charleston/Mt. Pleasant bridge and the globe with different currency symbols. The two large numbers near the top are 1770 (founding of the College) and 1986 (founding of the School of Business). The names at the top are listed in alphabetical order.
