As the College of Charleston prepares to honor and celebrate its 250th anniversary in 2020, it is also embarking on a strategic planning process to define its vision for the future.
Because it is important that the strategic plan reflect the perspective of everyone who has a stake in the College, President Andrew T. Hsu wants students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and business and community leaders to provide input. To kick off the process, he is hosting three open-campus forums to discuss the broader higher education landscape, the current state of the College and to offer initial thoughts on potential options for the future. The following forums are open to all faculty, staff and students:
- Wednesday, August 28, 11 a.m.–1 p.m., Stern Center Ballroom
- Tuesday, September 10, 5 p.m. (condensed presentation during the regularly scheduled Faculty Senate meeting), Wells Fargo Auditorium
- Thursday, September 12, 3–5 p.m., Stern Center Ballroom
Additionally, there will be opportunities throughout September and October to participate, including:
- Strategic planning workshops for students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to ideate, share and contribute
- Strategic plan surveys for students, faculty, staff and alumni to share feedback on specific topics
- Focus groups for different campus audiences
There is also an open comment box on the strategic planning website.
A Strategic Planning Steering Committee, co-chaired by Interim Provost Fran Welch and Chief of Staff Paul Patrick, has been established to analyze the feedback from the campus community and develop the final strategic plan for approval by the Board of Trustees in April 2020.
