The College of Charleston Alumni Association will honor six alumni at the annual Alumni Awards Gala on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Charleston Place Hotel. This annual event highlights College of Charleston alumni who have excelled in their respective fields. Alumnus David Lee Nelson ’00, writer, actor and comedian will be the master of ceremonies. Alumni Award of Honor: Kenneth S. (Gus) Gustafson, Sr. ’75
The Alumni Award of Honor is the highest honor awarded by the College’s Alumni Association. It is presented to a person who has made outstanding contributions to the Association or the College.
Distinguished Alumnus Award: George B. Rabb ’51
Established in 1983, the Distinguished Alumna/Alumnus Award recognizes alumni who has made significant contributions to their profession or their community over a long period of time, thus reflected favorably on the College of Charleston.
Alumnus of the Year Award: Padgett Powell ’74
The Alumnus of the Year Award recognizes an alumnus or alumna who has contributed significantly to their profession, community or the College during the past year.
Young Alumna Award: Stephanie Felder ’04
The Young Alumna/Alumnus Award recognizes a graduate whose life has expressed the finest of College traditions through service to their community or profession. The recipient must have graduated within the last 10 years.
Howard F. Rudd Jr. Business Person of the Year Award: Scott A. Cracraft, Sr. ’83
This award recognizes a graduate who has made significant contributions as a business leader to their industry or profession and who has exhibited great integrity in his or her business and personal life. The recipient must also have made significant contributions to the College and to the community. The School of Business selects the award recipient.
Pre-Medical Society’s Outstanding Services Award in Medicine: James B. (Jim) Edwards ’50
This award is given to an alumnus or alumna whose practice of medicine represents remarkable achievement, and who demonstrates an enduring commitment to the College and their community.
