In celebration of the College of Charleston’s 250th anniversary, the institution has partnered with Springbok Coffee Roasters to create a unique blend that tastes like history.
What does history taste like you ask? Here’s the description to spark your senses:
The College of Charleston’s 1770 Celebration Blend brings together two beautiful coffees from Central and South America. Sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee estates by local green coffee importers Balzac Brothers & Company, and roasted here in Charleston by Springbok Coffee Roasters, this full-bodied blend boasts notes of baker’s chocolate, almond and molasses.
“This blend has something for everyone from the specialty coffee connoisseur to the instant coffee lover,” says Springbok owner Jason Bell.
For alumna Laura Cergol ’17, production manager and lead roaster at Springbok, the experience of creating a blend for her alma mater was a full circle moment.
“At CofC, I felt like a part of the larger community, not just a college student, and now I’m really happy to be roasting great coffee for everyone in that community to enjoy,” says Cergol, who majored in communication at the College.
The College’s 1770 Celebration Blend coffee can be purchased at Kudu, the College of Charleston Bookstore and online through the Springbok Coffee Roasters website.
