Cody Dixon ’17, founder of S.O.U.L. Power Productions

Amid the national conversation about race and social justice, College of Charleston arts management alumnus and local musician John Shields ’12 wanted to make a difference. That’s why his alternative hip-hop duo Little Stranger is hosting a concert on Facebook this Friday, June 12, 2020, to support Charleston area nonprofit S.O.U.L. Power Productions.

Started by fellow arts management alumnus Cody Dixon ’17, S.O.U.L. (Sounds of Universal Love) Power Productions is a nonprofit production company and educational resource that focuses on arts advocacy, education and production technologies for children and adults in the Charleston area. The organization’s mission is to provide communities with the opportunity to engage in music creatively, educationally and sustainably.

Little Stranger will livestream the fundraising concert at 8 p.m. EST on Friday and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to S.O.U.L. Power Productions.

Both Shields and Dixon, who is a music teacher at a local elementary school, have consistently given back to the arts management program and music industry concentration, as well as to 1770 Records, the College’s student-run record label.
