Every year, the College recognizes its staff members for their hard work and dedication with the annual Staff Awards. Made possible by the Staff Advisory Committee to the President (SAC), these awards recognize the outstanding achievements of College of Charlestonโ€™s staff members in their work for the university.

Frank Covington, director of facility operations, received the 2021 Outstanding Staff Member Presidential Service Award.

Frank Covington, director of facility operations in Facilities Management, received the top staff award: the Outstanding Staff Member Presidential Service Award, which recognizes staff who support and engage other offices and organizations on campus, have furthered the Collegeโ€™s core values, have been instrumental contributors to the College community and consistently collaborate and partner with other offices and organizations in order to benefit the campus community.

Marissa Wheeler

Marissa Wheeler, data and reporting analyst in the Office of Enrollment Planning, was named the 2021 Presidential Temporary Staff Employee of the Year.

Marissa Wheeler, data and reporting analyst in the Office of Enrollment Planning, was named the top recipient of the Employee of the Year in the temporary staff category. Two other temporary staff members were also recipients in this category: Kaylee Lass, curatorial associate and operations manager in the Halsey Institute for Contemporary Art; and Patrick Mazur, assistant director of admissions in the Office of Admissions.

Olivia Vernon, assistant director of programming and student engagement, received the 2021 Presidential Permanent Staff Employee of the Year Award.

The top recipient of the Employee of the Year award in the permanent staff category went to Olivia Vernon, assistant director of programming and student engagement in the Department of Residence Life, and the following permanent staff members were also each recognized as recipients: Sarah Harvey, administrative assistant in the N.E. Miles Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC); Katie Monk, budget analyst in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences; Megan Rowe, director of campus housing in the Division of Business Affairs; and JD Stallings, technical director in the Department of Theatre and Dance.

All awardees were selected by SAC and President Andrew T. Hsu. Top recipients received $1,500 and a framed award, and all other recipients received $500 and a framed award.
