Background: I’m from Albany, Georgia: “The Goodlife City.” Before moving to Charleston, I was a lead production assembly technician with Duracell AA Batteries in Lancaster, South Carolina.
Interests: What’s important to me is God, health, family and friends. My hobbies are fishing, listening to music and watching HGTV.
Looking Forward: I’m looking forward to learning more about the ever-changing world of computer technology here. Also, helping users gain more knowledge of the equipment and services that IT has here.
Daniel “Miles” Boinest, Theatre and Dance

Background: I am excited to join the family at CofC and come to the Department of Theatre and Dance with almost 10 years of experience in the theatre and hospitality industries. I am a Charleston native and I’m best known in the local arts scene for my work as a stage manager and sound designer at PURE Theatre, where I’ve worked since 2014. I’ve also worked and designed for the Collective Face Theatre Ensemble and the College’s Department of Theatre and Dance.
Interests: I am a strong advocate for new works of theatre and relish any opportunity to work with playwrights, directors and designers in the development of new plays. In my free time, I like reading, discovering new music, exploring Charleston’s diverse food and beverage scene, and bowling.
Looking Forward: I am looking forward to using my management experience, theatre skills and love for helping people in my new role as office manager and operations coordinator. I’m eager to contribute to the student experience within the School of the Arts at the College of Charleston. As an advocate for LGBTQ+ initiatives, I am also looking forward to being a representative and resource for the students in my department.

Background: I grew up in Richmond, Virginia. After receiving my Ph.D. from Emory University, I was a college professor at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, teaching chemistry and neuroscience for 28 years.
Interests: Being of service to others is most important to me. My hobbies are varied, from playing the guitar to golf to beachcombing for art/furniture projects.
Looking Forward: Using the innate and acquired skills and experiences that I have to serve the students of the College.

Background: I am originally from just outside of Chicago. I previously lived in Charleston for a short time during my military service. For the last 20 years, I worked at a nuclear power plant in New York as a reactor operator and instructor.
Interests: Family is of the utmost importance to me. I am being drawn back to the Charleston area to be closer to extended family. I enjoy home improvement, so it is both a hobby and what I like to do in my spare time. I am not afraid to admit that I enjoy a good Lego project from time to time.
Looking Forward: I have never had the opportunity to attend college on a campus. I recently completed my degree online. Several years ago, I visited my little sister at the University of Iowa and could not get enough of walking around the university grounds. When my wife was completing her graduate degree remotely through Penn State, we visited the main campus numerous times and it affected me in much the same way. I have worked with energy generation and distribution for years, and now have the opportunity to do that type of work in a beautiful college setting.

Background: I am from Orlando, Florida. I previously worked at MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University), and for the Miami Marlins in their Dominican (baseball) academy. I also interned with the Atlanta Braves minor league team, Florida Fire Frogs. I received my master’s at MTSU and my bachelor’s at University of Central Florida.
Interests: I enjoy being outside, playing video games and watching sports, especially the Tampa Bay Rays.
Looking Forward: I’m looking forward to meeting my team and co-workers.

Background: I was born in Maryland, but my family moved to Mt. Pleasant when I was 11. I completed middle and high school in Mt. Pleasant and then came over the bridge to the College of Charleston. I recently completed my degree in May and I have been working with the Office of Multicultural Student Programs and Services since graduation.
Interests: Family is the No. 1 thing that is important to me. I like to cook for my family and spend time watching movies or playing games with them. I also like to read books and poetry. Lastly, I like to listen to music and watch sports.
Looking Forward: The thing that I look forward to the most is engaging with and empowering students to take control of their education, career and life.

Background: Originally from Sumter, South Carolina, I graduated from the College of Charleston in 2018 (B.A., History). After graduation, I worked with Charleston County’s 9th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office, specifically the Charleston County Juvenile Arbitration Program. I went on to work as a litigation paralegal at a local personal injury law firm while obtaining a master’s of education from Liberty University (M.Ed., Higher Education – Instructional Design and Technology, May 2020).
Interests: In my spare time I love watching classic TV shows and movies, and most weekends you can find me enjoying movie nights with my friends and family. I also enjoy reading, trying new recipes and maintaining my self-care routines (taking naps, lol).
Looking Forward: I am looking forward to supporting the goals of the College and encouraging everyone I come in contact with to be the change they want to see.

Background: I am from Gaithersburg, Maryland (the Washington, D.C., area). Before coming to Charleston, I lived in Syracuse, New York. There, I completed my master’s degree in higher postsecondary education at Syracuse University. I also worked at Syracuse University as a graduate assistant in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs. Before going to Syracuse, I worked in Jackson, Missippi, at Millsaps College, where I worked with fraternity and sorority life, student organizations, traditions, first year experience and student programming. I also received my bachelors of science in biology and psychology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Interests: Outside of work, I enjoy cooking and baking. I love trying new recipes and putting my own spin on the recipe. Out of the two, I prefer baking the most, specifically French baking (French macarons, eclairs and tarts). I also play volleyball, a hobby that I have kept up from playing competitive volleyball in grade school and college. Lastly, I love to explore local restaurants that showcase the best food that a city has to offer.
Looking Forward: I look forward to working with the students of the College of Charleston and providing them meaningful development opportunities that prepare them for life after college. I hope to promote collaboration amongst the different councils of the fraternity and sorority community (IFC, NPHC, Panhellenic). Additionally, I look forward to learning more about the unique opportunities the College of Charleston provides to students.

Background: I was born and raised in South Carolina. I attended Winthrop University, where I majored in biology and minored in chemistry. During this time, I realized my passion for higher education/student affairs. This led me to obtaining my master of education in higher education administration from Auburn University, where I also worked as a graduate assistant for orientation programs. For the last four years, I have worked as a pre-med advisor at the University of Georgia.
Interests: I love hanging out with friends, listening to music or binge watching a Taiwanese or Korean drama.
Looking Forward: I am looking forward to working with students in a smaller, more connected role.

Interests: In my free time, I enjoy gardening, reading, traveling, spending time outdoors and at the beach, and family time with my two sons and our dog, Stella.
Looking Forward: I am looking forward to learning more about the campus community, and helping students to thrive and feel at home at the College of Charleston.

Background: I am originally from Greenville, South Carolina, and I earned my bachelor’s in music education from the University of South Carolina. I was a member of the Mighty Sound of the Southeast marching band at the University of South Carolina, where I stood/marched beside 400 passionate musicians to express school spirit at the highest capacity. I have been teaching in schools during and after my time at the University of South Carolina, and it furthered my passion to assist students in and out of the classroom. I am thrilled to assist any and all students in their educational journey!
Interests: In my spare time, I try to create music with any instrument that I possess, as well as playing video games. In addition to this, I love spending time with my fiancé and my cat after work and during the weekends.
Looking Forward: I am excited to be immersed in the historical City of Charleston, working with some of the brightest students in the state of South Carolina. Charleston is full of great opportunities that students will be able to embark on to further themselves as students and members of society.

Background: I earned my doctorate in counseling psychology at the University of Florida in 2009. I am passionate about working with college students, having tailored both my doctoral clinical training and prior professional experiences to the field of higher education and college counseling. My professional interests include working with interpersonal trauma, relationship concerns, gender, sexual orientation, diversity/multiculturalism and first-generation college students. I have lived in the southern region of the U.S. for most of my life, with most of that time spent in north/central Florida. Most recently, I’ve lived in the Midwest, where I worked as the counseling center director at a small private university for the past six years.
Interests: I love being outdoors, hiking or biking, or just lounging by the water somewhere with a good book. I’m also a hobby artist and enjoy oil and acrylic painting. During football season you’ll find me rooting for the Florida Gators on Saturday!
Looking Forward: I am looking forward to getting to know the people of CofC! Having been at a few different schools over the years, I’ve learned the heart and uniqueness of any institution is the people. During my visit to campus I met so many wonderful, passionate individuals, and can’t wait to be part of that energy I felt. I’m also looking forward to returning to the South, where I’ll be closer to family, and where sweet tea is readily available.

Background: I was born and raised in the small town of Humboldt, Iowa. After graduating from Humboldt High School in 2012, I went on to study K-12 physical and health education at the University of Dubuque (UD) in Dubuque, Iowa. I graduated with my bachelor of science degree in the spring of 2017. As an undergraduate, I spent three semesters studying abroad and traveled to over 30 countries. After graduating from UD, I then went on to volunteer in Armenia with the Peace Corps, where I served as a community and youth development volunteer from 2018–20. Prior to moving to South Carolina in July 2021, I served as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer in Edwards, Colorado. Currently, I am pursuing my master of arts degree in international education online from the School of International Training (SIT) in Brattleboro, Vermont. My position at the College of Charleston will be the first time that I have worked in higher education.
Interests: Some of my hobbies include hiking and camping, running, skiing, playing soccer and listening to music. I enjoying spending time in the mountains and frequently overnight camp out of my SUV that I converted into a camper vehicle. In my spare time, with what little I have, I enjoy going to the beach with my partner and our dog. We are also frequent travelers, and so it is highly likely that we are off exploring places that are new and exciting to us!
Looking Forward: I am looking forward to becoming a part of the Cougar Pride! My first impression of the campus, aside from its natural beauty, is that there are some energetic and prideful students, faculty and staff who make up the College’s diverse campus population. I am eager to meet each and every one of you, and look forward to seeing you all around campus, within Charleston and the surrounding areas, and at the various sporting events. Go Cougars!
