Charleston entrepreneur Steve Swanson and his wife, Emily, have donated $2.25 million to the College of Charleston, the largest alumni gift in the schoolโ€™s history. The money will be used for scholarships for students in the collegeโ€™s honors program. College officials said the scholarship program will be used to attract the best and brightest students

A College of Charleston associate professor has won a prestigious Fulbright scholarship to go to Tanzania to replicate a partnership involving the college and a downtown high school. Mutindi Ndunda played a key role in the collegeโ€™s Center for Partnerships to Improve Education, which targeted Burke High and developed ways to improve its teachersโ€™ lessons.

Biologist Gavin Naylor says that the new species are so-called "cryptic" species. That means that they are pretty much the same as existing sharks except their DNA does not match exactly.
