The College of Charleston Friends of the Library Fall 2014 Authors’ Series will feature a public lecture by author Virginia Beach on Sept. 23, 2014. Beach is the author of “Rice and Ducks: The Surprising Convergence that Saved the Carolina Lowcountry.”
The major improvement project took place during summer 2014 and added additional study spaces, shelving for collections, a flexible learning/lecture room and expanded Special Collections.
The Lowcountry Digital Library has published three new exhibitions, including one featuring the ironwork of master blacksmith Philip Simmons.
The improvement project lays the foundation for a 21st century library, including additional study room and access to technology. The second and third floors will be closed from May 3 through August 18, 2014.
The Addlestone Library renovation will increase study space for students and shelving for collections, but with nearly a million moving pieces, the project is a lot like a jigsaw puzzle.
