What is it that sets good leaders apart? Is it their ability to communicate effectively? Or their prowess at getting optimum productivity out of a team? Or is it their understanding of the most effective means of achieving goals? These and other questions will be explored and answered in late July 2015 when the College of Charleston’s School of Professional Studies offers a three-day Summer Leadership Institute.
From July 22 to 24, 2015 at the College’s Tate Center on Liberty Street in downtown Charleston, senior mangers, company leaders and CEOs will benefit from a series of in-depth workshops designed to examine the core issues that challenge leaders of businesses and organizations. The highly interactive and dynamic program will enable attendees to assess their current levels of proficiency and build skills in two areas crucial for success in contemporary organizations: organizational learning and building the capacity for innovation.
“The Summer Leadership Institute is an ideal opportunity for executives who would like to hone their skills as leaders,” said College of Charleston President Glenn F. McConnell. “It’s also a wonderful example of the synergetic relationship that exists between the College and the local business community.”
Dr. Graeme Coetzer and Dr. Pam Mayer will lead the workshop. Dr. Coetzer has worked at universities around the world and has designed and delivered management and leadership education programs for such businesses as Microsoft, Google, Boeing, Rio Tinto and the U.S. Department of State. And Dr. Mayer is a consulting psychologist who designs and delivers leadership development programs for managers and executive teams. She was previously a vice president at the Center for Creative Leadership and has served as director of executive development for two international corporations with sites in Europe, Asia and the U.S.
Attendees will be guided through a series of sessions that begin with a focus on differentiated leadership and end two days later with a concentrated examination of leading constructive conflict. Those who register for the institute by July 10, 2015 will receive the discounted price of $875. The regular price of $950 will take effect after that date.
