Self-nominations for a seat on the Staff Advisory Committee to the President (SAC) are open through April 28, 2021. There are three at-large seats open to all staff, one at-large seat open for temporary staff and one organizational unit seat open for permanent staff from each of the following:

  • Academic Schools (may come from SOTA, SB, EHHP, HSS, LCWA, SSM, Libraries, Honors or the Graduate School)
  • Building and Grounds
  • Public Safety
  • University Marketing and Enrollment Planning

Any staff member may self-nominate for an at-large seat. Any staff member who occupies a temporary, non-instructional position can self-nominate for the temporary staff at-large seat. Any permanent, full-time staff member who occupies a non-instructional position can self-nominate for an open organizational unit seat from their respective unit. Employees with the words “president” or “provost” in their titles or who are considered senior administrative officers are not eligible to serve on SAC. Staff who serve as adjunct faculty who meet the above criteria are eligible.

Nominees should be willing to commit to meeting (currently via Zoom) as an entire committee at least once a month and to meeting with their chosen subcommittee at least once a month. Organizational unit representatives are also responsible for communicating SAC initiatives with their represented units and soliciting action items for SAC to work on.

Permanent staff representatives will serve for three years, and the temporary staff representative will serve for one year. The term for the newly elected members begins July 1, 2021.

The purpose of SAC is to advise the president about staff opinions concerning matters of importance to the staff and institution, to receive the president’s requests for advice and counsel regarding matters relevant to the staff, to increase awareness of the staff’s contributions to the College and to promote the recognition of outstanding staff.

To nominate yourself, complete the online nomination form. Although only self-nominations will be considered, employees may now anonymously encourage a colleague to self-nominate.

Candidates will be announced May 3, with an open election May 3–14, 2021.
